Friday 3rd September 1943

The fourth anniversary of the war. There was a religious service for those in “open” wards. Apparently the Colonel rushed angrily into the Occupational Therapy block and had everyone sent to the voluntary service. His words were: “Clear this department! You've all got to go to the Church Service, or else you'll pick up stones.”

Today I paced 18 furlongs in the compound. I find that the complete perimeter is 260 paces and that the asphalt path (crossways) which runs in front of ward 3, is 80 paces.
