Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February 1940
Two days of sea – gallons of water in every direction. Getting quite warm, especially down below on the mess decks, where one sweats. Four nights ago I turned in fully clothed except for blouse and boots, with my great coat lying on top of the hammock. Tonight (Sunday) all I needed was vest and pants and two blankets loosely folded. That’s all one need say about the weather! And – my God! – it suits me better than winter misery!
