Reveille 6a.m. Seemed very dark and cold and windy; my two blankets were very warm and enticing...
They marched us down to the beach and it was just daybreak when I ran into the water. Bloody rough. Several blokes got into difficulties but we got them all out, eventually. Surprised when I suddenly felt a vicious current dragging at me! The sea had never demonstrated it's power to me, before.
Had breakfast (tea, bread, margarine, jam and tinned bacon) and are now to carry out “maintenance” Not moving yet.
