Monday 11th May 1942
I should have been going on leave tomorrow but it's been cancelled, or rather postponed, as we have some important signal schemes on this week. However, I may be able to get away with the next party, at the weekend. Hope so – three days!
They're working us pretty hard now. There are often jobs to do during the siesta. When there's nothing, we usually sleep. So little reading or writing is done nowadays.
This afternoon to my chagrin, I was fetched out of the mess during tea time to give a wireless lecture to a dozen officers. (I, who during the first two years of my overseas service, learnt nothing about wireless, giving a lecture and demonstration to officers, without any preparation!)
