Saturday 4th September 1943

Paced 12 furlongs.

This morning I worked in the book binding department at OT, not in the noisy art room. I made myself a notebook for use as a diary when this one is finished. (I say I made it! Actually the work was done by the only other occupant of the quiet book binding room, with some slight and very ineffectual assistance from me!)

The ward Sister told me I must be extremely careful in my journeys to and from OT, because if the Colonel saw me and happened to stop me for questioning, he would be furious at finding I was from ward 3, and yet at large...
