Sunday 24th October 1943

Paced 28 furlongs.

Saw Gutwillig this morning; his narcosis course is over and he came across – almost wide awake – to speak to Brown and I, as we paced to and fro.

This ward is completely full now; every bloody bed occupied. It is unpleasantly crowded with new faces, but I have the pleasant knowledge that Jock, Brown and I make a solid wedge which morally can keep it's serenity against any new force which might otherwise become dominant.
