To the Labour Exchange to “sign on”. Clerical vacancies rare, I was told.
To the shop to collect my remaining aprons. Saw Charlie, who said “cheerio”, and the manager, who said nothing. The Library at dinner time; I waited until then, so that I should not be known as out of work.
Painting my new bedroom in the afternoon. Wrote to Lincoln, South Shields and the Metropolitan Police Forces. (I heard about South Shields at the Exchange.)
