Monday 23rd September 1940
Owing to reorganisation of the bivouac area M1 had to move down to the Command Post position tonight. M1 – that is Goodwin, Naden, Geordie Hall and myself; the other three are in hospital.
A good position, the best we've had yet, in a sheltered wadi near the beach. A stream must exist there in the rainy season for the soil is fertile. There are tomatoes, grown by some wretched desert rats of bachelor Arabs who live in a shanty nearby. We'll sleep well here! Too secluded for the alarm whistles to disturb us; only bombs will wake us.
