Sunday 20th October 1940
Several calls during the night and early this morning; but I didn't really get up (it being Sunday) and take down the ground sheet across the dugout entrance, until after six. Then I found it was a lovely sunny morning, no more dust about than usual and a pleasant westerly breeze blowing.
Burch was today's trainee. He seemed fairly capable, so I spent most of the forenoon tidying up and repairing the havoc wrought by the storm. Slowly but thoroughly it was done – (I've only just realised that to be slow, thorough, methodical and deliberate is second-nature to me!) and all is neat and efficient again, now!
