Thursday 30th January 1941

Still waiting to be sent for! Life is fairly tranquil. There is a shallow slit trench which has not been needed yet. We do maintenance in the mornings and lounge about in the afternoons. Water is short now (we're well away into the desert) and food supplies erratic. In the evenings we huddle around the camp fire; as it grows dark we let the flames die away, then when the red embers turn grey, we all go to bed.
