Tuesday 24th September 1940

Working at the Command Post exchange today, sorting out the tangle of lines which had arrived there - “A” Forward Exchange, 339 Officer's Mess, Battery Office, RHQ, - all sorts of lines. This afternoon Mr Adams (he's back as signals officer, bless him!) told me that I was to take over this exchange with Naden, and so become more or less a duty man. Hurray! I was becoming a bit browned off with routine.

There'll be plenty to do, during the next few days. Besides normal exchange work, we have to improve the dug-out (additional sand bagging and roofing) and dig a long entrance trench. May also have to lay a few lines! Still, it will be bloody interesting.
