Saturday 15th January 1944

No new developments, except a letter from Father to say he was coming on Sunday and I was to apply for a pass (!!), and a note from Pepita saying I was welcome to make my home at Hampstead until I'd settled down. This latter was good news; I was in doubt where to find a temporary home.

This morning I terminated my work in the canteen, leaving Nobby in charge. At dinner time I drew my entire kit from stores and put it in the office up here, in the ward. At last my possessions are under my eye again, not lost! Shortly, I'll sort things out a bit and repack them ready for the journey.

Two more breakfasts! One more dinner! Two more suppers! Two more nights!

Then I go, free, into a normal world.
