Sunday 21st November 1943

24 furlongs today.

Having work to do continues to be pleasant, and meals and spare brews in the kitchen, even more so.

Magee has gone home to Horndon on the Hill, Essex. Joe Meek and I have been in dock over nine months each now. We are both on the SI list still, and mournfully speculate on the length of our stay here.

The earth tilts a little more towards the east each night, it seems. Tonight Capella was visible as soon as Altair and Vega, which both lie near the meridian.
Orionis always rises before lights out time these nights, also the two mysterious stars, which I am still unable to identify.
