Butter wonderfully soft. Finished at tea time and slacked until the shop closed. We were delayed by Mr. Slaughter’s presence (Mr. Slaughter was the area supervisor, a bowler hated figure, a terror to all.), but left 7.20.
(Butter came in 56lb blocks, it had to be cut and beaten into 11 lb blocks and then beaten and shaped.)
