Saturday 22nd September 1934
Evening, to the hot, artificial cinema, with Audrey (she likes the “Pictures”). Home along a quiet road, light as day under the moon.
When she had gone, I walked further along this road. Past a still pond with a swan – moonlight and shadows. To a bridge over a railway, with a swift cool breeze. White rails, flying straight into the distance… A train clatters past. Lighted windows reflected in the pond. Pictures! And this!
