Tuesday 18th September 1934

Audrey and I strolled across the reservoir (eerie, as the moonlight lay along the water).

As we walked, close together, she gurgles in a childish manner (delightful) and her eyes sparkle, open wide. I do not love her; there is no misunderstanding there, thank heavens, for we have discussed it. She knows little about my past except the lies that most people here believe without doubting.
