Saturday 6th October 1934

Still raining! (It has rained every day this week) Met Audrey after lunch, on her way back from Windsor. Dallied for some time in idle conversation at her gate. I did not arrange to see her later, for two excellent reasons:

I cannot afford it.
I am too busy.

At digs I was quite happy, executing my various jobs according to plan. Of many things, I mention homework, shoe cleaning, shaving, shopping…
