Sunday 11th March 1934
Written in the evening. Depressed and lonely and dismal. Heavy budget deficit which I must level by drawing from G.S.S. Shall need most of 2nd Class Fund which was reserved for Easter.
The outlook is most bleak. Have just returned from a lone walk along London Road, through Staines. As I wearily opened my front door I said “Oh, damn it all” in utter dejection. Have opened the window to let in air and the noise of traffic. There are many more sadnesses but I am too miserable even to write. Have some Kensitas and chocolate and an old magazine.
