Wednesday 2nd March 1938

Sunny day; the bleak winter seemed to be past! I worked my way to Colchester, by Rayleigh, Great Baddow, Chelmsford!, Hatfield Peverell and Braintree. Fairly successful calls.

Late in the afternoon, when the westering sun tinted the scenery to an optimistic rose colour, Zephyr seemed to become witched. Between Braintree and Colchester she zoomed along, instead of bellowing fretfully! For the first time, I daren’t let her flat out! Up hills and dizzily into hollows she raced. 50 –55 –50 Exhilarating! Being of feminine gender I suppose she has moods.

Tea at Butt Road, then changed into comfortable old clothes and went to the Pictures.
Curious; when at Colchester I can be quite happy without Pat.
