Up at 5 o’clock and got my kit cleaned in time. Mounted guard in the evening and carried out my new duties (bombardier of guard not NCO in charge) without much smartness I’m afraid.

Latest rumour-news. From next Sunday, all letters will be regimentally censored, as they were on the journey here. Why? What has caused this change? Surely we are not moving again?

A fitful nights sleep, awaking every two hours to post the sentries.
