The relief of 414 should have taken place today but has been postponed for an amazing reason. There is not enough spare petrol at present in the Fortress! Of course M1 is allowed a certain amount for vital journeys, line maintenance and so forth. Therefore we still make our periodic trips down to the water hole. We went down there tonight and bought back TWELVE GALLONS of water; in the moonlight it was lovely in that quiet wadi, and the war seemed far distant.
