2:45a.m. - near the end of my night watch. Dope (from today's intelligence summary) about the long-range gun which shells the harbour:- “For information. Harbour gun usually fires when ship arrives or when visibility is good. It usually fires between 0600 – 0800hrs. and 1900 – 2100hrs. also during night between 0100 and 0100hrs. Best time to habitually bombard it is about 0655hrs. and 2030hrs.”

There's never any mention in the BBC news of this harbour gun although it's becoming an increasingly interesting factor in the siege!
