Wednesday January 25 1933

Went to work by the Foss. Ice on the water and the timber still burning. Grimsby and Gainsborough Brigades at work.

Serving most of the morning. Miserably cold. Mr. Bedford was transferred to Leicester. The new manager, Bates, arrived with Mr. Slaughter. Very busy taking stock. Early closing day. Left at 2.10p.m. After dinner I fell asleep by the fire.
