Saturday 25th November 1933

Unpleasantly cold. Shifted into a new bedroom, the middle one on the first floor.

A walk with Peggy in the evening. Main roads, lanes, tracks. A bell tinkled suddenly at a Convent. Came to the edge of the hill and looked down, both quiet. Twinkling lights, trains, the water-like Medes, the starry sky. Owls hooted. We left the path and went straight down the hillside – bushes, mud and moonlight. She came into digs and we talked alone. Am happy now. She believes me, at last. I think she will love me soon.
