Sunday 25th February 1934

Went through Egham in search of State Express 999 cigarettes (a special “treat”). Six shops. At the first three I boldly left the shop on being refused. The latter three, however found me weakened, so I compromised by purchasing packets of D.R. Minors (vile things!) At the sixth shop (in a state of collapse) I ordered a box of 999s. A pretty fair-haired girl presided here. 25 for 2/- I groan.

Later: and that is about all that happened this day.
