Sunday 18th February 1934

Tried a new tobacco today – Craven Mixture. Walked to Cooper’s Hill and stood there, silent, beside a big tree, looking across the bare, cold country.

Tomorrow Harvey begins work at Wood Haw, running a poultry farm there. He has just had supper with Peggy and her people. “So-and-so was there, and so-and-so”.

And I am glad.
And I am content to wait.
