Sunday 8th April 1934
Having received 2/- “discount” from digs, I went rambling, this sunny day. Oxsholt, Ripley. It was expensive, but I dreaded a lonely, empty Sunday.
The rambling club people are all right but I’m always fearing that some of the Paripan staff will see us. It is a chance, which would almost put finis to my ambitions. If only I had money! This is enough to tempt me to crime. With money I could live in a style suitable to my position at work, and acquire decent friends.
Oh, I hate to seem snobbish, but I’m in a vicious circle, can’t help it. Even TocH is not good enough for that dim standard.
