Thursday 14th December 1933

Another icy day. As I watched the litho pots, it was amusing to see workmen scurrying over the bleak yard. Very few walked, most ran madly! Two men were working at the spirit pump outside, when quite suddenly the cold seemed to overwhelm them. They left their work and rushed into the making house, right inside one of the big chimneys. Disappeared into the warm chimney, just as my ball dropped into the pocket, last night.

Took Peggy to Staines (Majestic) in the evening. “Facing the Music”. Walked home, said “cheerio” at the gate as usual. I thank God for many things.
