When I marched into the Principles Pageant Rehearsal, I was told by Vespasian, “Leave the door open SONNY.” Which last word rankled.

They carefully practiced the parts for individual actors and I watched with Ron, as the man I am to understudy did the part. Ghastly to look on and imagine how embarrassed I’d be! But when my turn came, I went through it coolly enough…
