Surprise!
The repair shop could not deal with my old shoes; too decrepit to risk! Unfortunate, but this left me nearly 5/- in hand! Stoney-brokeness ended – how attractive the shops seemed. Bought cheese and butter first; then toothpaste, chocolate, a haircut and some Rosemary tobacco.
Replaced my borrowings from the G.S.S. (1/6, first class).
Have just had a bath; shall go to bed, eat, smoke and read and, later sleep. It is only 9.30p.m.
