Went with Pat to see (and/or hear!) my first operetta – Noel Coward’s “Bitter Sweet”. When I lived at Leicester, in digs at Ellis Avenue, Barry Spiero went to the show and returned ecstatic. At Egham I nearly went to see the film but something went wrong, I forget what. Maybe Peggy had already seen it, with one of my rivals as escort. However, tonight at last I saw “Bitter Sweet” – with Pat. We both loved it. The haunting Coward music!

Returned to no. 218 and went in “for a few minutes”. Pat went to bed soon after midnight.
