Staines library, with Ford. Took out a book myself – Deeping’s “Short Stories”. Enjoy this job as – “they come and go” – I see life. Wish there was time to discuss each book going out! A good quotation inside one book: “Two different things wanteth the true man, danger and diversion. Therefore wanteth he plaything” (Nietzsche) The girl who was borrowing the book, read this and remarked, “Dirty dog!”.

Bought 25 Tesfani King’s Own cigarettes. Turkish, of course.
