Saturday 25th March 1939

In the morning’s mail from London was the copy of an order from Churchill Johnson Ltd, of Laindon. So they did obtain the Billings order! And hope to place a small PHG stock in their shops too. The Billings order shot the week’s turnover up to £50. Best this year!

Lois and I spent the afternoon walking-out my forthcoming Benfleet – Rayleigh ramble.
Bitter coldness; high wind. After tea it began to rain also but became not a jot warmer or less windy. We just couldn’t face the walk back to Benfleet and Slinky B, so eventually Lois drove me across in the Vauxhall and we returned to Oakdene in convoy fashion.
