Wednesday 5th April 1933

Out all day with the British Automatic Sales Team. Hykeham, Waddington, then by main road to Sleaford, Heckington, to Boston. Walked along the river. Alluring boats in the dock. Sunny. Dinner in the car near Boston. “Imperial Palace” by Alan Bennett. Coast wards. Flatness, Wideness, Emptiness. “To the Sea”. Skegness. Along the shore. The glorious air. The tide. A cup of tea in the station Restaurant. Late afternoon. Burgh -le- Marsh. Winding roads. Speed. Wragby. Lincoln. “fear and be slain”, - a jolly good motto which I am trying to impress on myself.
