Monday 8th May 1939

Eleven calls, two orders. Turnover - £1-0-0.

I was advised that JP Carter’s goods were sent by lorry on May 1st. So I wasted my time in trying to stop them at the station. They’d been delivered! Called on the Solicitors. Legally, they said, the good had been “sold and delivered” and were now part of the debtors assets. I called at Carter's house as a forlorn hope. His sheds had been taken away, also the machinery and materials. Only empty paint cans and rubbish remained…
